Kaity is in her senior year of high school, and like many graduates-to-be she decided to book a senior portrait session to celebrate the achievement! Here's how we captured her senior portraits on the beach:
What are Senior Portraits?
Let's talk about senior portraits for a moment - what are they, and why do people get them? Senior portraits are typically taken during a child or young adult's senior year of high school or college. Graduation is usually one of the first major milestones in a young person's life, which is why many people choose to make it an unforgettable memory with a portrait session.
What's great about senior portraits is that the style and session itself can be as unique as your graduate is. Some people choose to have senior pictures captured in a studio, at an outdoor location, in graduation robes or dressed casually. If your graduate has a hobby or passion, they can even incorporate that into their photoshoot.
Are Senior Portraits worth it?
If you had asked me during my time in high school, I would've said, 'no'. But now that I'm older, and a little wiser - I would absolutely say yes, they are. As someone who really did not enjoy school, I didn't realize at the time how important the moment of graduating was. In my experience, as time goes by those memories of your academic experience will fade, and you'll really wish you had some pictures of your youth to reflect on. While these days, things are a bit easier to remember with smart phones and cloud-based storage, there really isn't a replacement for a frame-worthy, professionally-captured portrait that can be proudly displayed for all.
Where to take Senior Pictures in Pensacola, FL?
There's plenty of great places to take senior portraits in Pensacola, and your imagination is the limit. Many clients of mine choose to have them done on their campus, but there are still others that prefer areas that speak to the personality of Pensacola itself.
In Kaity's case - she wanted her portraits done on Pensacola Beach. Specifically, she wanted to be photographed near the pier and in the water. Places like Downtown Pensacola with it's unique architecture or Tarkiln Bayou State Preserve Park are great locations, too. I always advise clients to choose a location that's either meaningful to them or helps them express their personality.
Kaity's Session
Kaity's session took place on one of the first days of spring here in Pensacola, and the weather was nice. Naturally, that meant that the beach was extremely crowded. Kaity was unfazed however, and posed for the camera with ease. The water was somewhat cold but bearable when we captured photos underneath the pier, and we finished our session off by getting some photos with the Pensacola Beach Ball in the background. Overall, our session was done in about 30 minutes. Not bad!
