Over the summer, we did a really fun all-in-one Senior/Beach/Family picture session with our client and her family, who were visiting from Canada. Here's how it went:
Family Beach Pictures at Fort Pickens Campground
Pictures on the beach were especially significant for our client, Masesi, for two reasons. Firstly, her children had only hours before just graduated from a prestigious private school they had been sent to the USA to attend. Secondly, the family is from a landlocked province in Canada, so beach pictures were a rare opportunity to create an unforgettable family moment. We began our family beach photo session at the Fort Pickens Campground on a beautiful strip of beach. The area boasts pristine white sands, and green foliage that our protected bird species use for their nesting grounds, which makes for a picturesque backdrop. While Fort Pickens' historical fort also adds to the charm of the area, another reason why I recommend Fort Pickens to my beach photography clients is because it's way less crowded than the neighboring Pensacola Beach, especially during the summer time when tourism season is at it's peak. If you're ever planning to get family beach photos done in the Florida Panhandle, be sure to know the best time for a beach photoshoot before you visit.
Before you schedule your next photoshoot at Fort Pickens, however, one of the reasons why Fort Pickens is less crowded than the neighboring Pensacola Beach is because there is an entry fee of $25, but the pass is good for 7 days, can be used at other Gulf Islands National Seashore locations, and the fee is waived for military, veterans, and Gold Star families. You can purchase a pass or learn more here. For Masesi and her family, the $25 was well worth getting away from the crowds and enjoying the unique beach scenery in the Fort Pickens area.
Senior Pictures on the Beach
After the recent graduation of their children, the family had a plan for what to wear for beach photos and came prepared with several outfit changes, including a suit for their son and a red dress for their daughter. We captured some stunning individual portraits of the graduates right on the shoreline before moving on to some fun family shots in celebratory graduation t-shirts. As part of my commitment to providing a comfortable and seamless portrait experience, I always bring a portable changing tent for quick and convenient wardrobe changes on location.
As the sun began to set and rainclouds rolled in, we were able to capture some truly breathtaking shots that added even more beauty to the already picturesque emerald coast. We wrapped up the session just in time to avoid the rain, leaving us with yet another successful and memorable photoshoot.
